Egypt’s ousted President Morsi dies after collapsing in court

Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi died on Monday after collapsing in a court while on trial for espionage charges.

Morsi, the first democratically elected head of state in Egypt’s modern history, had been in jail since being toppled by military in 2013 after barely a year in power. He was a top figure in the now-banned Islamist movement Muslim Brotherhood.
